Our story

Why we built Horizons

Horizons Homecare was founded in 2024 by Russell Crossley and James Galler. Before Horizons, Russell spent years in the homecare and care sector, including as Managing Director at a service rated Outstanding in all areas by the Care Quality Commission, the highest rating a provider can be awarded. Russell also supported each of those branches to receive overall Outstanding ratings, a first for any care provider at the time which put them in the top 1%.

James came to care from a more personal place. A former secondary-school maths teacher, he had seen the sector first-hand through his own family, and too often found standards that fell below par. That experience is what brought him and Russell together to build something better.

Between them they had seen what genuinely good care looks like, and how rare it still is: the same trusted carers at the door, visits that run to time, and families who feel kept in the loop rather than kept waiting. Horizons was built to make that the standard, not the exception, for families across Blackpool, the Fylde Coast and Lancaster.

Today that means small, consistent care teams, carers we employ and train ourselves rather than agency staff, and founders who still know the service inside out. The promise has been the same since day one: to be the care provider we would want for our own families.

Our approach

We deliver consistent, person-centred support built around each individual's routines and preferences — not what's convenient for the provider. Our small, consistent care teams mean carers truly know the person they support, reducing confusion and building trust over time.

We review care at 7 days, 1 month, 3 months and every 6 months to make sure it remains right for your life as it changes. Families choose us for continuity, punctual visits, and communication that makes care easier to manage day-to-day.
