Why (we believe) our staff are the best...

When we are recruiting for our care services, whether that would be for an office position or a care position in the community, we dive into a persons experience and work history through in-depth references - However, the decision to employ them lies with WHO they are, rather than what they know because of the following quote; "We believe you can give somebody the skills to be an outstanding carer, but you can't teach someone to care" - James Galler CEO

All of our staff go through a difficult selection process to ensure we don't just employ everyone who applies for a job. We select them based on their personal values, ethics and ethos in care. We understand that we are only as good as the people we employ.

" You are born to care. It cannot be taught "

James Galler - CEO

Continuous professional development (CPD)

The staff selection process and safety checking:

After a verbal survey at one of our company meetings, we learnt that the vast majority of Horizons Homecare employees would like to be continously upskilling themselves through different forms of qualification and experience. That's why we have a large emphasis on consistently offering NVQ/QCF training and nursing-delegated skills sessions for our staff.

Three simple steps to using Horizons Homecare

1. Get in touch with us

Have a no obligation, confidential, conversation with one of our care experts to discuss your needs. We will ask questions about you or your loved ones and hopefully we will book the next stage.

Frequently asked questions

How do you recruit carers and what qualities do you look for?

We recruit for values, reliability and the ability to deliver kind, respectful care. We look for people who communicate well, follow care plans, and treat people, clients and families with dignity.

What training do carers complete before working alone?

Carers complete induction training and shadow shifts, with ongoing supervision. Where care needs are specialist, additional competency based training is planned before starting those tasks.

Do you use agency carers?

We do not use agency or other forms for short-term employees. We aim to maintain consistent standards through our own recruitment and training approach. Where cover is needed, we plan carefully to protect continuity and quality.

How do you monitor quality in the community?

Quality is monitored through supervision, refresher training, CPD training, spot checks, feedback, care plan reviews and clear escalation processes, ensuring concerns are addressed quickly and safely.

Can we request a different carer if the match is not right?

Yes. Tell us as soon as possible and we will review the situation, adjust the match and update the care plan if required.
