Your questions, answered
How quickly can home care start?
In many cases support can begin within days of the first phone call. We start with a free care assessment, agree a care plan with you, and can begin with a small package that grows as needed. If you need urgent cover, call the branch and we will tell you honestly what is possible.
How much does home care cost?
Visits range from £23 to £33.50 per visit depending on length and type of support. With Horizons there are no peak rates, no travel charges and no complex care surcharges. Home care is often significantly more affordable than residential care, which typically costs £850 to £1,200 per week.
Will we see the same carers at every visit?
Yes, that is the core of how we work. You are supported by a small, consistent team of carers who know your routines, and we aim for the same familiar faces at every visit. Our carers are all directly employed by us; we do not use agency staff.
What happens if care needs change?
Care plans are reviewed regularly and adjusted as needs evolve. Support can step up gradually, from 30 minute visits all the way to Live-in care at home, without changing provider or losing the carers you know.
Is Horizons Homecare regulated?
Yes. We are registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC), the independent regulator of health and social care in England, with registered locations covering Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and Lancaster & Morecambe. All carers are DBS checked and trained in house.
What help is available with funding?
Depending on your situation you may be eligible for local authority funding following a care needs assessment, direct payments, or NHS Continuing Healthcare. Many families self-fund. We can talk you through the routes and point you to the right assessment before you commit to anything.
Can we switch to Horizons from another care provider?
Yes, and we manage the switch for you. We build a transition plan around routines, medication and family communication, coordinate the handover details, and run early continuity checks so nothing is missed. There is no obligation after the initial advice call.
What types of care do you provide?
Everything from short daily visits to full time support: Personal Care, Companionship Care, Dementia Care, Respite Care, End of Life Care and Live-in Care, plus specialist support for complex conditions.
Which areas do you cover?
Our Blackpool branch covers Blackpool, the Fylde coast and Wyre, including Bispham, Fleetwood, Poulton-le-Fylde, Thornton-Cleveleys and Lytham St Annes. Our Lancaster branch covers Lancaster, Morecambe, Heysham, Carnforth and the surrounding villages.
How do we get started?
Call the branch nearest you (Blackpool 01253 202 922, Lancaster 01524 881 211) or request a callback online. The first step is a free, no obligation care assessment where we listen to what is needed and recommend honestly, even if that means telling you home care is not the right option yet.
