CEO Joins Headway Blackpool Committee
In October 2026, I officially joined the committee of Headway Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde, the local brain injury charity our Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre branch supports.
What does Headway Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde do?
Headway Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde is a registered charity (number 1157637) for adults living with an acquired brain injury, and for their families and carers, across Blackpool, Wyre and the Fylde Coast. Members meet every week at its community hub. The charity also runs social events, therapy sessions, a carers support group and help with benefits and welfare advice.
The charity marked its 18th anniversary in 2026, and we sponsored its 18th Anniversary Spectacular.
What does a Headway committee member do?
Committee members are volunteers who sit on the charity's board. Headway asks them to attend a monthly board meeting, help shape the charity's strategy and governance, and act as an ambassador for the charity in the local community.
Why I joined
Supporting individuals and families through complex neurological recovery and acquired brain injury is central to the work we do every day and has become a passion of ours. We know first-hand the difference Headway makes to people's lives.
Headway Blackpool represents the gold standard of community, resilience, and genuine practical support. For me, joining the committee is about putting skin in the game and backing an essential local lifeline that helps drive long-term impact for the people who need it most.
Where can people affected by brain injury get support?
If you live in Blackpool, Wyre or Fylde, you can refer yourself to Headway Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde using the referral form on its website. Community practitioners and hospital teams can make a referral too.
In Lancaster and Morecambe, our Lancaster & Morecambe branch supports Headway Lancaster & Morecambe Bay.
Headway UK runs a free, nurse-led helpline on 0808 800 2244 for anyone affected by brain injury.
If someone you love needs care at home after a brain injury, read about our Brain injury care at home or ask us for a free care assessment.
